Czech Garnet Museum
Worth seeing is a replica of the jewellery worn by Ulrike von Levetzow given to her by the German poet J. W. Goethe as an expression of his love. The exhibition also has a potted history of the town and its surroundings.
Local doctor, patriot and language revivalist Václav Pařík had a large collection which is now displayed in the Třebenice Museum. The exhibition offers a unified, yet fleeting view of how Czech garnet was mined and processed as well as a collection of contemporary and historical jewellery made of Czech garnet. Worth seeing is a replica of the jewellery worn by Ulrike von Levetzow given to her by the German poet J. W. Goethe as an expression of his love. The exhibition also has a potted history of the town and its surroundings. Not only can visitors look at Czech garnets in the museum, they can also pick them out from the “garnet sand” at the front of the museum.
Certified garnet jewellery can also be purchased at the museum's register.
